First off all, I'd like everyone to know that marking has officially been finished! Time to completion from picking up the lab books to putting them down again was *drum roll* .... 47 hours! And I get paid for 2 hours of marking :D
Clearly something has to be done to speed up my marking! Caring less springs to mind...but I just care too goddam much!....
But during my marking my lab supervisor came in and handed me three more books...
I looked at him confused :S . My extra task was to photo copy every page of the three lab books... My lab supervisor then left smirking "At least you will get to know how to use the photocopier."
I'll get round to it on Monday.
I also thought you might like to have a look at what a PhDs desk looks like!
I think I should point out some important features:
No.1 On the far right. The Fan! Coincidently my desk came with an extra, (note the well placed comma there) little desk, with a fan. Which is turning out to be invaluable while everyone else in the room is bathing in the vast amount of heat the is coming from all of our computers and, oh yes, the sun!
No. 2 Just left of the fan are current papers I am reading, and under is the big bad ass maths textbook by Riley, Hobson and Bence (I highly recommend it to anyone)
No. 3 Just above all that stuff is my line of post its! With important weekly meetings, things to do, important command line commands and other stuff. Oh and a reminder to renew library books!
No. 4 Note the dual screen. It is a must have in science!
And finally No. 5 (which in hind sight should have been No. 1) COFFEE! Coffee mug and coffee!
There are more important things there too, but I think this whole numbering thing has gotten old, real fast.
I think I should tidy my desk up a little...
But now it's time to look forward to the weekend! Which normally I would spend doing some work and catching up from #NoWorkWednesday but this weekend the misses and I have plans to see Radiohead in Manchester!! Something we have been meaning to do for many years! So it is very exciting!
